This resource is a set of 4 bright fortune tellers designed to support your children in their story writing. They are even differentiated. This particular set is for Fairy Tale writing.
Some people use story dice, some use spinners but why not try something different - something children are familiar with using for fun?
Included
· Fairytale 'Characters' fortune teller - This supports your child to include additional characters within their story and prompts them with ideas about the characters personality or appearance.
· Fairytale 'Settings' fortune teller - This depicts 8 different settings which might occur in a fairy tale. Details about the setting are given with a small picture to support each.
· Fairytale 'Objects' fortune teller - This gives details about, and a small picture of, 8 different fairytale objects such as a mirror or a sword.
· Fairytale 'Events' fortune teller - Help your children to include additional events within their story. 8 events are shown in this fortune teller from 'A chance meeting' to 'something magical'.
Instructions - The all important instructions on how to fold and create these fortune tellers are also included. I
have tried to use pictoral description alongside the instructions to give you a clue as to what it should look like at
each stage - Though as I have stated in the instructions, if you do get stuck, the children in your class are
bound to know how to make them for you!
Each of these fortune tellers has been created with a great deal of attention to detail. Both
relevance of product and quality are of utmost importance to myself.
Differentiation
- Included in this item are 2 sets of fortune tellers. The 2nd set are predominantly the same
as the 1st though with a slight variation to differentiate them for more anxious learners.
Set 1 - has the inner flaps labelled A to G so that the character or object etc... to be
included in the story is chosen entirely randomly.
Set 2 - has the actual character or setting name etc... on the flap so that the child can see 4 possible
choices and can guide their story slightly more personally. This set would be better for those children who
are not very secure with their writing. It is also good for those children who find random and unplanned
activities difficult to cope with and who need some level of control in their activities.
Fun
These fortune tellers are a great way to get children to expand their writing and incorporate
new elements in to their stories. Because they are fun to use and brightly coloured, they will capture the
attention of even the most reluctant writer and maintain their interest.
